About This Item

Cambridge, MA and Chicago: Harvard College Library and Newberry Library, 1947. Small quarto. ix, 32pp. From an edition of 360 copies, this is one of forty copies printed on India paper for distribution in the United States. This is a possible trial copy, evidenced by the laid-in paste-paper sample and annotated prospectus. The deluxe paper adds appropriate luminosity to Verini's excursus on letterforms. Translated by A. F. Johnson and edited by Philip Hofer and Stanley Pargellis, with an Introduction by Stanley Morison. Bound in gray paste paper over boards backed in red morocco. Light rubbing, else fine in drop-back box, which shows some toning and wear.
