London: Richard Bentley, 1852. [8],192 pp. Octavo. original blue patterned cloth. Gilt title and decoration on spine. Original coated yellow endpapers. Minor wear and soiling to the boards. Half title with old gift inscription date 1858. Text block generally clean with only the odd bit of spoting. A very good plus copy. George Curtis [1824-1892] was an American writer associated with the Transcendentalist movement and stayed at the utopian colony, Brook Farm in 1842-43. This is a series of articles on trips near New York including to the Catskills, the Hudson, Niagara, Saratoga, and Newport. The book is dedicated to Charles Dana. Uncommon. 1852
