A smart first edition of this illustrated biography of Lord Randolph Churchill, written by his son Winston Churchill. Complete in two volumes. First edition. Volume one is illustrated with a frontispiece and nine plates. Volume two is illustrated with a frontispiece and seven plates. Collated complete. A biography of Lord Randolph Spencer-Churchill, a British aristocrat and politician who participated in the creation of the National Union of the Conservative Party. He became Secretary of State for India, and later was Chancellor of the Exchequer. He was a Tory radical and coined the term 'Tory democracy'. Written by his eldest son, Sir Winston Spencer Churchill, a British statesman, soldier, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. A small split in the cloth to the head of the rear joint of volume two. Front hinge to volume one and rear hinge to volume two starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Minor age toning to the endpapers. Very Good
