Binding of red cloth with gilt title panel on spine with red lettering, gilt author name is rubbed. An old man in glasses blind-stamped on the front--Woollcott himself! Red cloth has small discolored spots to front, and on rear cover along spine and slight wear to corners. Binding is tight and solid and square. Text block edges clean, no spotting. Pages are very clean and completely unmarked. lightly and evenly toned. The book states" The captions appearing at the head of each article are supplied, with apologies, by the Publishers. It was the author's intention to supply these himself, as he did in 'While Rome Burns', but they remained unwritten at the time of his death. b. 1887 d.1943. Woollcott was a very well-known American critic, commentator, and journalist.
