Complete in two volumes.This work is completely devoted to the biographies of the Chief Justices of England, from the Norman Conquest to the death of Lord Tenterden in 1832. The detailed biographies document the lvies of the influential people who held the position throughout British history.It has been a highly rated work of biography. Written by John Campbell, the 1st Baron Campbell. Campbell was a Liberal politician, as well as being a man of letters and a lawyer. He also wrote 'Shakespeare's Legal Acquirements Reconsidered'. Rebound in a full cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some odd marks to the boards and spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots. Title page of Volume II has been repaired, as have the first few pages. Very Good
