A good set, bound in quarter brown calf over dark green textured boards, black morocco spine labels and gilt rules, edges red (some rubbing; tears to spine; some foxing). First Continental edition. 'Copyright Edition' (title pages); not located in Podeschi. 4 volumes bound as 2; includes illustrations after engravings by H .K. Browne ('Phiz'). Ink signature of German owner, dated 1856, on front endpaper of volume I.
