Daniel Aloysius Lord (1888 – 1955) was an American Jesuit priest ordained in 1923. As a Catholic writer he wrote 23 books, 15 booklets, and 228 pamphlets, as well as countless articles. He also wrote 70 pays, musicals, and pageants. His most influential work was possibly in drafting the 1930 Production Code for motion pictures. During the 1930s and 1940s his writings touched on politics, seeking a Catholic middle ground between socialism and unfettered capitalism. He was a tireless advocate of racial fairness, and frequently engaged issues of economic justice. In 1954 Lord was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer and died at St. John's Hospital in St. Louis.
