About This Item
London: Seeley & Co., 1895. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6". Gambier Bolton. The second edition of Cornish's most famous work, an illustrated volume on Regent's Park Gardens. The second edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with pictorial gilt to the front board. Charles John Cornish (1858-1906) was an English naturalist and also a regular contributor of natural history articles to The Spectator and to Country Life. This natural history work focuses on the inhabitants of London Zoo, based in Regent's Park; in particular, how the animals have adapted to a zoo environment, and in some cases, a different climate. Illustrated throughout with Japanese drawings, and photographs by Gambier Bolton. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with shelf wear to the joints and extremities. Gilt remains bright. Front hinge is slightly strained but is held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good
