This is a nice condition set of the "Life and Writings of FRANK FORESTER" - edited by David W. Judd. 1882 1st edition; Orange Judd Company; New York. Complete set in two volumes. Each volume contains a frontispiece, full-page engraved plates, and in-text illustrations. Decorative floral end papers. "Frank Forester" was the pen name of Henry William Herbert, the British-born American novelist, poet, historian, illustrator, journalist and writer on sport.

The contents are as follows: VOLUME I - Herbert's Personal Characteristics; Henry William Herbert - The Story of his Life (Earlier Days in New York, Literary Debut, Initial Romance, As a Romancist, As an Editor, As a Historian, As a Sporting Writer, Town Life, At the Cedars, Sad Suicide); The Hawking Party (poem); The Wigwam in the Wilderness; The Hostage's Release (poem); Trouting Along the Catasauqua. Condition:
Clean covers and spines. Small cloth tear at the bottom-right corner of the volume I front cover. Bright gilt lettering on the spines. Both volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. All covers are firmly attached. Nice interiors - both volumes have clean text pages that nearly appear unread with only some light foxing to the volume II frontispiece, title page, and tissue guard in between. Each volume has a name/date (1882) written in ink on the first 2 front end papers. Overall the set is in Very Good+ condition.
