A very scarce new edition. The Haworth Edition. Volume VII of a seven volume set titled, 'The Life and Works of Charlotte Bronte and Her Sisters'. In the publisher's original, full cloth binding with gilt detail. With a portrait frontispiece, three facsimiles and thirteen monochrome plates. Collated complete. Volume VII consists of, 'The Life of Charlotte Bronte', with an introduction and notes by Clement K. Shorter. Elizabeth Gaskell was an English novelist and biographer, best known for her biography of Charlotte Bronte and for her debut novel, 'Mary Barton'. The half title page is present. With four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the book. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light shelf wear to the edges. Bumping to the spine. Light marks to the boards and spine. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Age-toning to the edges. Spotting towards the front and rear. Some creasing to the edges of the last few pages. Very Good
