About This Item
London: Hamish Hamilton, 1960. Hardcover. 8vo. Burgundy cloth with gilt spine lettering, pictorial price-clipped dust jacket. v, 320pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good/good plus. Page edges a bit spotted, else near fine; jacket a bit rubbed and edgeworn, with numerous small edge tears and edge chips. A tight and nice first edition of this memoir by the influential English theatrical director (1900-71). Interestingly, front flyleaf bears the circular blind-embossed owner-ship imprint of well-known television character actor Robert Casper (1924-2020).
