About This Item

London: Adam and Charles Black, 1910. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 10" by 7.5". Various. A profusely illustrated first edition guide to the history and habits of a variety of fish, with two hundred and thirty nine illustrations. First edition. Illustrated with two-hundred and thirty-nine in-text illustrations, including drawings as well as photographs. All of the photographs, with one or two exceptions, were taken by the author himself. 'Life History and Habits of the Salmon, Sea-Trout, Trout, and Other Freshwater Fish' by P. D. Malloch is intended as a guide for any recreational fish enthusiast, with descriptions of different varieties of fish. With the help of numerous illustrations, the reader is meant to be able to refer any fish to 'the particular run' that it belongs to, as well as 'ascertain its weight and age, and how often it has returned to fresh water'. P. D. Malloch was a fishing enthusiast who owned a self-titled fishing shop in Perth, Scotland. This was the only book that he wrote.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Some bumping to extremities and wear particularly to the spine. A few marks on boards. Some rubbing to front board has resulted in a bit of loss to cloth. Rear hinge is starting but remains firm. Prior owner's ink inscription on front paste down. Internally, firmly bound, with the binding loosening a bit more in the middle. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with just a bit of age-toning to top edge of text. Very Good
