Lippincott Company, 1912. 1st ed. 8vo. xxvi, 496 pp., frontis, ports, plates. In orig. cloth, t.e.g. All plates are present as called for. A very bright copy with a bit of wear to the gilt top-edge and a previous owner name on the front free endpaper, otherwise near fine. Howes E-12 "aa." Nevins II, p. 54. Gallagher writes, "Early completed his narrative shortly after the war but published on the chapters from the Overland campaign through the end of the conflict in A Memoir of the Last Year of the War for Independence.... Early's niece Ruth brought out the full narrative eighteen years after her uncle's death.... Early's book belongs on any short shelf of the most important books on the Army of Northern Virginia" In Taller Cotton 71.
