About This Item

Boston and New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1891. Octavo (18.5 x 13 cm.), 275, [2], 11, [1] pages. Publisher's advertisements. Index. Second printing. Christine Terhune Herrick was the author of several cookbooks and other works, as well as the daughter of Marion Harland (pseudonym of Mary Virginia Terhune). More than half of this work is given over to monthly menus for one week each. December is lacking, though a special Christmas week set of menus is supplied in its place. Additional chapters cover Cheap Mutton and Beef, the Tea Table, High Tea, Country Boarding, Summer Desserts, and Food for the Sick. Some light soil and foxing throughout; edges spotted. In publisher's tan cloth, lettered in brown; bit better than good. With the ownership signature "Hattie F. Camp" to free front endpaper. Scarce. [OCLC records twenty-two copies; not in Cagle].
