Spine faded. 6mm loss of cloth at head and tail of spine. 50mm split to cloth at head of rear joint. Moderate rubbing to boards. Bookseller's rubber stamp, Oxford Book & Stationery, New Delhi. Provenance: Ex libris bookplate Gerald Stuart Lysaght. ; Volume One only of two volumes. xix, [1], 414 pages + portrait frontispiece + 13 photogravure plates + 5 colour plates + 117 illustrations within the pagination (some full page; 2 in-text illustrations printed in red, "Private Seal of the Dalai Lama" on page vii and "Great Seal of the Dalai Lama" on blank page following page xix). 5 full page maps (3 within the pagination, 2 colour). Red cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Gilt Tibetan lettering "Om Mani Padme Hum" and Buddhist symbols on front board.Top page edges gilt. Page dimensions: 238 x 163mm. Perceval Landon accompanied the 1904 Younghusband expedition to Lhasa as a correspondent for the "Times". .
