London: Taylor and Hesse, 1818. xv,[1],114,[10]pp. Contemporary boards. Spine perished, new endpapers. Internally very clean, and in very good condition, untrimmed. In a green slipcase, black gilt morocco label. First London edition, after the first American edition of the same year. "These letters were written to friends and inquirers in England and contain a wealth of information about economic and social conditions in the West" - Buck. The London edition was published without the maps found in the first two American editions. HOWES B467. BUCK 105.
