NAPOLI: NELLA STAMPERIA SIMONIANA , 1778. Interessante opera del 1778 sul Monte Volture (Potenza, Basilicata) scritto dal vulcanologo e scienziato Domenico Tata (1733 Cercepiccola - ?). Tata verso la metà del settecento ottenne una cattedra a Napoli di matematica e fisica e si specializzò in discipline naturalistiche e vulcanologia. Conobbe l'ambasciatore inglese e vulcanologo Sir William Hamilton e a lui dedico la lettera sul Monte Vulture (1778) analizzando le origini geologiche, acque e minerali del sito (Cfr. Treccani). Due piccole vedute del Monte Vulture al frontespizio e a inizio testo incise da Giuseppe Guerra, un finalino con due medaglie. Alla fine dell'opera sono presenti cinque planches incise da Melluso che mostrano monete e medaglie. In ottime condizioni. Copertina in mezza pelle con titolo e decorazioni in oro al dorso in buone condizioni con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in buone condizioni. All'interno le pagine si presentano in ottime condizioni con rare fioriture. In 8. Dim. 21x15 cm. Pp. 235+(5)+(5).Interesting work of 1778 about Monte Volture (Potenza, Basilicata) written by the vulcanologist andd scientist Domenico Tata (1733 Cercepiccola - ?). Tata obtained a cattedra in Naples around 1750 Napoli of mathematics and phisics and specialized in natural history and vulcanology. He knew english ambassador and vulcanologist Sir William Hamilton and he dedicated the letter about Monte Vulture (1778) analyzing geological origins, waters and minerals of the place (Cfr. Treccani). Two little views of Monte Vulture in the title page and at the beginning of the text engraved by Giuseppe Guerra, a vignette with two medals. At the end of the work there are five planches engraved by Melluso showing coins and medals. In very good conditions Half leather coeval cover with golden title and decorations in the spine. Binding in good conditions. Inside pages are in very good conditions with occasional foxings. In 8. Dim. 21x15 cm. Pp. 235+(5)+(5).
