Book Description:
The publication of Beyond the Never Never provided the opportunity to produce a work which we feel is bound to become a memorable link in Australia's literary and artistic heritage. Clearly, this marriage of Leslie Horsphol's poetry with the artistic genius of Pro Hart is a celebration of the Australian arts and will provide a rewarding adventure for all who experience it.
Leslie Horsphol spent his early years in Tahiti, before coming to Tasmania during the depression. He earned a living for a time as a travelling performer, before stowing away on a cargo ship to Victoria. Horsphol fought in World War II, returning to Sydney after his service to become a scriptwriter, insurance salesman and actor. He has written drama, poetry, short stories, travel fiction and more general works about Australia, including Back of Beyond and The Story of Australia's Federation.
Pro Hart was an Australian artist, born in Broken Hill, New South Wales, who was considered the father of the Australian Outback painting movement. His works are widely admired for capturing the true spirit of the outback.
