This booklet contains the first printed appearance of Churchill's speech of 14 October 1949 at the 70th Annual Conservative Party Conference. Four years earlier, Churchill's Conservatives had been soundly defeated in the General Election at the end of the war. Churchill would head opposition to the Labour Government until the General Election of 1951, which returned the Conservatives to majority and Churchill to the office of Prime Minister. At the 70th Annual Conservative Party Conference, Churchill delivered a 90-minute address to a crowd of about 10,000 in the Empress Hall, Earls Court, London. This address appears at pp.117-25 of this 128-page "Verbatim Report of the Proceedings together with the Text of Mr. Churchill's Speech". Hard to find and still unsurpassed in depth and insight by Gertrude Loomis, one of the trio of academic wives of Roger Sherman Loomis. Here is the more desirable Second Edition with it's updated work by Roger Sherman Loomis. The Celtic Goddess aspect of the Fairy paramour was one of the themes of Loomis research. Here the French, German, Welsh, and English contributions are studied. While these are Ex-library copies the markings are not overwhelmingly so. NO Spine Numbers, NO library book plates.
