Padua: Johannes Herbort, de Seligenstadt, 1480. A large folio leaf from the 1480 edition of Petrus de Monte's Repertorium utriusque iuris, printed in Padua (Republic of Venice) by Johannes Herbort, de Seligenstadt Schüssler. The leaf measures 435 x 292 mm (17 ¼ x 11 ½ inches) printed in double columns, 63 lines.. Rubricated paragraph marks & highlights. Some light browning, very fresh. ¶ Pietro del Monte (Petrus de Monte Brixensis) (c. 1400 1457) was a Venetian jurist, canonist and humanist. He studied at the University of Padua, as a student of Prodocimo de Conti and Giovan Francesco di Capodilista. He was papal collector in England from 14351440. Subsequently he was papal legate to France. He became Bishop of Brescia in 1442.
