London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1889. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Bound with maroon leather over the spine and corners with gilt title on green leather title plate on the spine and further gilt decorations, contrasting maroon leather covered boards.The spine and corner leather is quite severely rubbed, but the book remains robust and square. Gilt upper closed page edge, hinge and text block firm, marbled end papers, no inscriptions. On the title page is written "Annie Brassey 1887", this looks very much like an authentic signature?. Frontispiece opposisite of Sunbeam, tissue guarded. Fold out map in very good condition, no tears, but creased/folded in the wrong places. Abundantly and beautifully illustrated throughout. One or two spots to the end papers thereafter pages smooth, clean and bright. A very well preserved book.
