New York: Random House, 1942. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Clean early printing in clean but tattered jacket. Dark blue cloth boards with small gold decoration on cover, gold lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Decorated endpapers with faint tape marks to free endpapers, tiny date written at top edge of front free endpaper. Previous owner inscription dated 1943 on blank fly leaf. Pages and edges are clean. Small closed tear to fore-edge margins of two pages (359-362). No statement of edition. Not a book club edition. 421 pages. Clean jacket is not price clipped (small sticker from "Left Bank Book Stall" over price), separated at front spine fold and at rear flap fold, with pieces missing at top and bottom of spine; now in new archival quality removable mylar cover..
