Very Good/Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 614pp. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to spine, blind embossed motif on front board. Previous owner's name on front paste down, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, designed by Lynton Lamb (gently rubbed and faded at edges, a little sunned over spine). Flora Thompson was born at Juniper Hill, a hamlet on the Oxfordshire-Northamptonshire border, described in Lark Rise. Lark Rise to Candleford is made of her three earlier volumes of autobiography, Lark Rise (1939), Over to Candleford (1941) and Candleford Green (1943).

Synopsis

Lark Rise to Candleford is a trilogy of semi-autobiographical novels about the countryside of north-east Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, England, at the end of the 19th century. They were written by Flora Thompson and first published together in 1945. The stories were previously published separately as Lark Rise in 1939, Over to Candleford in 1941 and Candleford Green in 1943.
