About This Item
New York: Grove Press, 1966. First printing. Spiral bound. Very good. 114 pp., narrow 4to. Uncorrected proof in long galleys, with plastic comb binding. Laid in is a typed note on Grove Press stationery dated April 26 [1966], recommending the book: "Regardless of whether we can all get together, I thought you'd like to see this advance galley of Jakov's first novel, which we're publishing in mid-June. If there's one Grove Press book you read this season, this must be the one. End of pitch. / Carry on. What alternative do we have?" "Mid June" is written at the top of the front cover in an unknown hand; at the bottom, under the reproduction of the book's jacket design, in yet another hand, three lines of enigmatic notes in pen: "You know they're doing this now. Impersonal, no rhyme no reason, & then they have a little story. Long live [illegible]." Light creasing and some discoloration to bottom edge of front cover, otherwise very good.
