New Edition, with a memoir of the translator, and with various readings and illustrative notes from Savary's version of the Koran. xx + 132 + 416 + 5 Illustrations + 8 page publisher's catalogue. 1844. Life of George Sale by R A Davenport, Discourse, Al Koran 114 Chapters (Surahs) + 3 Genealogical tables, Map of Arabia and View of the Temple of Mecca. Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Very Good (Book - restoration work. The book was bought in by us with the spine cover loosely laid in, the front board detached and an interesting letter to the London Daily Telegraph from Ismael Ben Ali dated July 5, published 10th 1876 to the front paste down. The spine has been cleaned off, re glued with p.v.a. new mull and back strip and re backed with best match book cloth with remnants of the original laid on. Re cased with plain end papers and the letter to the Telegraph re pasted on plain paper and loosely laid in. The new cloth has been stained to match and the corners of the boards which show wear -firmed with paste. Paper of book block evenly tanned. No previous owner name or insc.)
