Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,matt,wrap-around 3-colour (b/w+dull yellow) pictorial artwork by Peter Clayton, illustrated paper-covered boards,with capitalised,black-lettered title+author's name to white background to front board; spine backstrip with similarly coloured+lettered title+author as front's and publisher's black-lettered colophon to foot of same, rear panel with poetry verse extract from KID,and a black-lettered synopsis. Negligible shelf-wear, bumping,creasing to edges and corners - no nicks, tears or splits present and immaculate burnt orange +white illustrated endpapers.Top edges with minimal, faint hint of dust-soiling,fore-edges bright,crisp and clean without foxing/spotting; contents bright,tight, clean,solid and sound - pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips,appears unread apart from my own collation. UK,slim,small 8vo HB,no dw/dj as issued,1st edn, v-viipp+1-88pp [paginated] includes a Contents list/table, Acknowledgements,48 poems; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages. Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional,and even internally,the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of its 10+ year-old age. It really is an exceptional, exemplary example for its cleanliness,brightness and lack of detracting faults. This volume is the second of 4 collections to be published by Faber and Faber (then 2010),which then expanded to a collection with other poets,preceded by Sylvia Plath (the first volume and see the previous alpha-numerical book ID rja1103023 for a UK,slim, small 8vo HB, 1st edn,5th imp; 'ARIEL', from this series) and including Wendy Cope, Philip Larkin, Don Paterson, and Alice Oswald. Simon Armitage's 'KID' won the inaugural Forward Prize for Best First Collection in 1992,and marked the arrival at Faber and Faber of one of the most distinctive new voices to have emerged in decades.
