Philadelphia: David McKay, 1931. Hardcover. Very good overall. Poem reflecting the influence of Sufi thought, written under a pseudonym by the explorer Richard F. Burton after his return from Mecca in 1854; although in the notes Burton claims to have gotten the manuscript from a friend, Haji Abdu, a Persian. Square 4to, xv, 129pp, illustrations. Introduction by Dhan Gopal Mukerji, illustrated by Willy Pogany. Publishers black and silver gilt decorative cloth, with illustration laid down at front board, silver gilt and black ruled borders, silver title at spine. Illustration a bit rubbed; cloth at rear board slightly marked. Internally, previous owner signature at ffep.
