Features a dozen spectacular original illustrated plates by the enigmatic artist, Willy Pogany.The book cover, is black full cloth boards, with Pogany a photogravure plate, set to front board cove, within wide silver borders, silver spine titles. Light shelf wear, to covers. Thick, heavy stock pages, fine; clean, tight with no markings. Binding: Fine with hinges intact. Written by Sir Richard Burton under the pseudonym of El-Yezdi, after his return from Mecca in 1854. The Kasidah contains many references to 19th Century scientific and philosophical concepts, most notably the evolution of species. Size: 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall.
