Entry to Canada was made at the border "which has recently been settled by treaty by Lord Ashburton and Mr. Webster." He is impressed by Kingston and especially by Niagara Falls, and then makes his way to Boston and New York. The appendices Qap. Also included are some miscellaneous notes, an analysis of the population of the United States, and a copy of a "Certificate of Naturalization. "A rare book which was printed for "private circulation only. " "For health reasons, this exporter of lace goods travelled to America. There he called on customers, enjoyed scenery, noted political factions (Irish "brewin dissatisfactions" "Yankees... thirsting for British blood") and kept a journal which he published "unedited"."
