Retold and illustrated throughout by Robert Gibbings. In original dustwrapper, which is price-clipped. First thus, the first of this edition. The work was originally published in 1937. Robert Gibbings was an Irish artist and author who was noted for his wood engravings and sculpting. The work narrates the tale of a man from Dunalk, Co. Louth who was sentenced to seven years transportation for stealing six pounds of hemp. In original full cloth binding and held in original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent. minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is generally smart. Spotted to the front and rear wraps. Wrap is sunned, particularly to the extremities. Bumping to the head and tail of spine. Spotting internally to wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Spotting to the foredge and just the odd spot to pages. Very Good Indeed
