About This Item
1956. SIMONHOFF, Harry. JEWISH NOTABLES IN AMERICA: 1776-1865 LINKS IN AN ENDLESS CHAIN. Foreword by Dr. David de Sola Pool. NY: Greenberg, [1956]. 8vo., tan cloth in dust jacket; 402 pages. First Edition. A scarce title telling the story of an outstanding American Jew for each year from American Independence through the Civil War. Apparently most copies went to libraries and few ever appear in the marketplace. Signed presentation from Simonhoff on the front endpaper: "To Glenn Morton Datnoff, with regards and best wishes, Henry Simonhoff. Aug. 1, 1962. Wildacres." Wildacres Retreat is located in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. Datnoff's family ran Zerdin's clothing store in Hickory, NC. He is buried in the Hebrew Cemetery in Mecklenburg County, NC. Very Good (little tanning endpapers); little edgewear & browning (tiny chip) d/j. $125.00.
