About This Item

UK,slim 12mo p/back original,1st edn.[Paperback original denotes the first format and its first appearance in print of the book/title.Paperbacks usually follow on from the HB edn,but can be published at the same time as the HB edn,but p/back originals are published prior to any other format in the country of origin and sometimes, even worldwide. Simultaneous issue as the UK,CAPE 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn.] VG+.No owner inscrptn and no price removal to cover.Bright, crisp, clean and generally sharp-cornered, glossy,Roger Moore as James Bond, portrait colour photographic illustrated front cover with red+black lettering; with negligible shelf-wear or creasing to edges and corners - no major nicks or tears present - reading creases to spine/backstrip.Top+fore-edges inevitably and ubiquitously aged/toned but generally clean; contents bright, tight, clean with page-edge toning, but solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips, would almost appear unread - apart from spine creases and my own collation.UK,slim 12mo wraps,p/back original,1st edn,9-189pp [paginated] includes 25 chapters; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages,a dedication (to Lewis Gilbert - the film's director),a contents list/table and 2pp publisher's advert to rear of the book.See also my book ID rja745117 for another Christopher Wood film adaptation of a Fleming novel 'James Bond and Moonraker'.
Two armed nuclear submarines are missing. One is Russian, the other British. But who is the shared enemy? The Cold War thaws as the might of MI5 joins with the cream of the KGB for one unique mission.Britain needs him: Commander James Bond,007.Russia needs her: Anya Amatsova,Agent Triple X. The world needs them both and in the most dangerous and complex assignment of their careers, they form an unholy,all-action and sometimes all-embracing alliance in a race against global destruction. This, the original and re-written story/novel of the 1977 James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me' written under licence from Ian Fleming's copyright holders Glidrose.Fleming regarded the novel as an experiment, with a woman's perspective and narrative, and wouldn't agree to film rights for a film to be made of it,in that state.Christopher Woods was drafted in by Lewis Gilbert, the film's director,to rewrite the novel and produce a subsequent screenplay. The film 'The Spy Who Loved Me' took only its title from Fleming's book of that name. The screenplay does not resemble the CAPE book's plot in anyway.Due to the success of the film,Wood was encouraged to write the novel based on the screenplay. To differentiate it from the original Fleming novel, 'James Bond,' was added to the title. Therefore,a 1st end thus,in its own right. As Fleming also thought 'Moonraker' was dated,Woods was again brought in to re-write it and also produce the screenplay. Wood's original book had a very small print run and is one of the rarest and most sought after of the 'post Fleming' James Bond novels. An interesting and unusual ephemeral item for Bondianna collectors and a welcome addition to any collection and to the Bond canon in particular. Please contact seller, because of the lighter weight of this item, for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page! N.B.
