About This Item
An early copy, circa 1900, of Alexandre Dumas' "The Man In The Iron Mask" with a wonderfully decorative spine. The plot revolves around a mysterious prisoner in an iron mask held captive by the King of France. The identity of the man behind the mask is a central mystery, which drives much of the narrative. The musketeers become embroiled in political intrigue, secret plots, and personal vendettas as they uncover the truth behind the mask. One of the most famous pieces of 19th century French literature. Good Condition. Green cloth with gilt lettering and design to spine. Exlibris plate to front pastedown. Front free end paper is absent. Binding is firm. Pages are lightly tanned and foxed. Boards have moderate edge-wear with notable fraying to spine ends and bumping to corners. Light splits to spine edges. Book is slightly cocked forward.
