About This Item
New York: The Catholic Publication Society, 1869. Aubrey (Thomas) De Vere (1814-1902), Irish poet and dramatist, can be seen as a precursor to the Celtic Revival: romantic (he was an admirer of Wordsworth) and less political, focused on the spiritual. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First American Edition, which is uncommon today. Bright green cloth binding, gilt lettering. Clean text; 309 pages. Minor rubbing and bumping, but darkened on the spine and the edges of the covers. This was an ex-libris copy; the endpapers show evidence of pocket removal and Quercus identifies the remains of only one stamping, evidently done rather half-heartedly, on the Title Page. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
