About This Item
Grosset & Dunlap Publishers, New York, 1930s. Good. Both these novels bear the copyright dates only, so may be later printings. "The Invisible Chimes" bears the date c1932, but has notice on t.p. reading, "This book, while produced under wartime conditions, iin full compliance with government regulations for the conservation of paper and other essential materials is COMPLETE AND UNABRIDGED." The paper is inferior to that of "The Unfinished House" (c1938--but without the wartime notice), which as a result is much much tanner, with a closed tear at bottom edge of t.p., and an open tear on the bottom edge of the front end paper. Both have frontis. ill. by Pelagie Doane. Neither have d.j.s but green boards are clean and unfaded though somewhat bumped at corners and rubbed at crown and foot of spines. Bindings are firm. Only markings are on front end pages, which have gift inscriptions. "The Invisible Chimes" has price of 6 pence.
