Unabridged, unaltered republication of the classical monograph first published in 1935. Arthur Mayger Hind (1880-1957) was one of the most highly respected art historians of modern times, Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum and Professor of Fine Art at Oxford. The central purpose of this two volume study was to survey the origins and early developments of woodcut and wood engraving. 484 illustrations.
