First published in four volumes in 1815.The seventh edition. Bound in the publisher's original blind stamped cloth with a gilt beetle to the front. Includes the prefaces for the first, sixth and seventh editions. This work was written by British entomologists William Kirby and William Spence. Spence and Kirby began corresponding soon after Spence became interested in entomology and collaborated to produce this comprehensive guide on the natural history of insects. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with front joint tender and rear joint starting, marks to the boards, closed tears to the head of the spine, fading to the spine and slight rubbing to the extremities of the boards. Front hinge repaired with tape and rear hinge starting with slight marks to the endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound with the hinge starting after pp. xvi. Pages lightly age toned with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear. Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
