The first edition of the work. In the original publisher's cloth. Illustrated with a folding full colour map and vignettes. This work was written by English Civil servant and Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire, Baden Henry Baden-Powell. This work provides an account of the village communities found in the several provinces of India. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally with the odd minor mark to the boards, light rubbing to the extremities, remnants from an old price sticker and bumping to the spine with very minor loss to the cloth to the head of the spine. Ex- library copy with library book plate to the front pastedown and label residue. Rear hinge failed after page 30 of the advertisements. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with only light age toning to the extremities. Library blind stamp to the odd page to the front and rear. Tape repairs and chipping to folding map. Good Only

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
