Santa Fe, NM: New Mexican Printing Company. Good. 1912. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Limited edition numbered 159/500 copies, with an author stamp on the limitation page. Purpled blind embossed boards with gilt imprint. Some light sunning of edges and spine, soil, and bowing of front board. Rubbed and bumped edges and corners, spine shaken. Purple patterned endpapers with a small bookseller's label on the first free endpaper, some inked notes on second endpaper. Light soil on text block edge and some pages. Laid in errata sheet. Author Benjamin M. Read engaged in numerous disagreements over the history of New Mexico and who had the authority to write about it. First English-language publication, based on the authors's second Spanish edition, and translated into English by Eleuterio Baca. Howes R-90, Graff 3430. ; 10" x 7"; 812 pp .
