Brown cloth boards with brown tape spine repair and spine cloth ends worns off. Rubbed and bumped corners, front hinge cracked. Soil and light foxing on edges and endpapers, traces of writing on front pastedown. Xi, 2-[256], hand-colored folding map measuring 16" x 12". Map is in very good condition with tears where it is stubbed in. Part travelogue and part poetic and philosophical description of Illinois, the guide covers everything from homesteading to poisonous reptiles. Howes J 184. ; 6 1/2" x 4"; 256 pp .
