About This Item

1934. Very good overall. A real photograph of the renowned pianist, taken at a private residence in 1934, with
with captions hand written in pencil. The people identified in pencil below are, from left to right, Mrs Paderewski, Ignacy Paderewski, Mrs. Ernest Schelley, "M. B. B", and Rebecca Hamilton.

The date below is 1934. This is the year in which Paderewski's wife, Helena, died in Switzerland after a long illness. Paderewski ((1860 - 1941) was a Polish pianist, composer and statesman, the first Prime Minister, in 1919, of the newly independent Poland. The snap shot laid down on a page removed from an album; on the verso are 2 real snap shots laid down, entitled, "Entrance Villa Joliette", and "Road Before Villa Joliette".

4 1/4 x 2 1/2"; and 2 images, 2 1/2 x 3 3/8". Accompanied by a 1967 newspaper article.
