Additional lines written above and beneath inscription in a different hand with a later regifting to another person, former owner's stamp also on front free endpaper. xiii, [5], 280 pp. Publisher's navy cloth with gilt spine lettering. Very Good with underlining and marginal bracketing to first chapter in light, easily erasable pencil. In price-clipped dust jacket, else Near Fine. A political history by the two-time Pulitzer-winning historian and public intellectual, signed about seven months before his death of leukemia.
