About This Item

New York: John Day Co., 1931. First Edition. Cloth. Very good/fair. Fujikawa, Gyo. Unpaginated (approx. 51p.) Signed by author (as Doppy) and illustrator on front endpaper. Some pages smudged, light wear to top and bottom of spine with bookseller's label on back pastedown, in scarce but tattered jacket. During the 1960s and beyond, prolific author and illustrator Fujikawa was one of the first to depict children of different races together despite objections from her publisher and critics. This, her first experience providing children's book illustrations, was completed while still a student at the Chouinard Art Institute. One of the first books authored by noted psychologist Baruch. Black & red lithographs by Gyo Fujikawa. (8-1/2"x6-1/2")
