The Bodley Head, 1978. First edition first issue with the Shakespeare head imprint on titlepage. Cloth boards [second issue has a rectangular Bodley Head imprint] - uncommon thus. 8vo. Green cloth boards with gilt titles. White dustwrapper with red/orange titles. A fine copy with clean boards. One tiny pinhead spot to textblock edges o/w spotless. No inscriptions. The fine dustwrapper is complete and fresh. No tearing or chipping. One tiny mark o/w remarkable condition. Original price of £4.50net to front flap. An exceptional copy of the first issue with one of the brightest wrappers we have handled. A Secret Service novel. One of of only 1000 copies of the first issue.
Synopsis
Graham Greene was born in 1904. He worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the Foreign Office. He died in April 1991.
