Based on Richard Llewellyn's 1939 novel. The men of the Morgan family earn a living working in their small Welsh town's mine, where they face dangerous and unhealthy conditions, and exploitation at the hands of the mine owners.

Set in Wales, shot on location in California.

Red titled Twentieth Century-Fox wrappers, dated April 18, 1941, noted as SECOND REVISED FINAL. Missing title page and first page of text. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Good only, with light dampstaining on the top edges, creasing throughout, and silverfish damage affecting the first 30 leaves. Wrapper Good, with front wrapper detached from the binding, and rear wrapper reinforced with old cello tape on the edges. Bound with two gold brads.
