Signed first edition of Hoover After Dinner: Addresses Delivered By Herbert Hoover Before The Gridiron Club Of Washington, D.C., published in 1933.. Octavo, xii, [2], 144pp. Blue cloth, title stamped in gilt on spine. No additional printings mentioned. Lacking the scarce dust jacket. Light wear to spine, solid binding. Includes frontispiece portrait of President Hoover. (Tracey, 21) (Burns, 0078) Handwritten description of provenance above signature, dated June, 1933. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "The Kind Regards of Herbert Hoover." This work was also issued in a limited edition binding by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1933. The limited edition run was individually numbered, with a total of 620 in circulation. They were not signed by President Hoover. After his presidency, Herbert Hoover continued to be a prolific author. Some of his notable works include the following: "The Memoirs of Herbert Hoover: The Great Depression, 1929-1941" (1952), "The Ordeal of Woodrow Wilson" (1958), "An American Epic: The History of the Making of the Hoover Dam" (1963), "Fishing for Fun—and to Wash Your Soul" (1963) and "The Crusade Years, 1933-1955: Herbert Hoover's Lost Memoir of the New Deal Era and Its Aftermath" (2013, posthumously published) - This book, discovered among Hoover's papers, offers insights into his thoughts on the New Deal and the policies of the Roosevelt administration during the Great Depression.
