Buffalo, NY: Phinney & Co, 1857. 192 pp, blind stamp covers. A brief history of the bible originally intended for a juvenile audience. Along with the text there are nearly two dozen black and white illustrations, the majority of which are portriats of the interregnal figures of the bible. Such as Adam, Noah, Abraham and Joseph. There are approximately five illustrations of various scenes from the bible such as "Samson and the Lion" and "The Crucifixion." . Measures 2" x 1 3/4" Moderate cover and edge wear due to rubbing. The back strip shows heavy wear. The front cover is partially detached from the text. The last interior page (it's blank) has a water stain on it, as well an signature from a previous owner.

New London, CT: Wm. Bolles & Co, 1850. Hardcover. Miniature (2" X 1.75"). Full calf, gilt spine lettering. 192pp. Frontispiece woodcut, woodcut illustrations. Very good. Mild bit of edgewear; some slightly irregular and closely trimmed pages. Tight, lovely copy of this American Tom Thumb Bible, a popular category of miniature book in the early 19th century. This is a later printing of the edition that W. & J. Bolles first brought out around 1831. The woodcut illustrations are charmingly primitive. Original leather binding is in exceptionally sharp, handsome condition, with spine lettering bright.

Albany, NY: Shaw, 1831. Full Leather. Good+.. Full Leather. Overall, a rather nice match for a thumb bible, with charming illustrations. Light shelf wear, gilt lightly worn at spine, pastedowns appear to be missing, light, even toning, else tight and unmarred. Full brown leather, gilt lettering and decorative elements. Small 64mo. (2in x 1.25in). 256pp. Illus. (b/w plates).
