Reliure à la bradel en pleine toile brune, dos à cinq faux nerfs orné de filets et fleurons dorés, date dorée en queue. Gardes et premiers feuillets brunis, piqûres éparses et quelques pâles mouillures. Trace d'une ancienne étiquette sur la page de titre. L'une des premières descriptions complètes des îles des Açores, par l'écrivain irlandais Thomas Ashe qui y séjourna au retour d'Amérique du Sud. L'ouvrage est constitué de 44 lettres destinées à Francis Rawdon-Hastings, Gouverneur général des Indes, dans le but de le convaincre, comme l'indique le titre, d'obtenir les Açores.
