Small 8vo, (4.25" x 6.75") Full red cloth, gilt titles and devices. Recently professionally rebacked with original spines laid down. 368; 498; 462 pp. B&W engraved illustrations in text, incl. engraved half-titles, B&W folding map to vol. I. Christmas gift inscription to front pastedown of vol. I dated 1846. Light general soiling to cloth commensurate with age. Light chafing to extremities, some bumping to corners, a few small spots of wear. Sporadic foxing to interior, mostly to front and end matter. Light edge toning.

Leather (Calf) bound with marbled boards and leather quartered corners.The titlein gilt on a black patch to the spine.Edges are marbled and show slight sunning.The boards show very light shelf wear at the edges.The binding although starting to crack very slightly will be good for another couple of hunderd years or so.. First Thus. 1/4 Back Leather Hard Cover. Very Good/None Given. Illus. by Maps and Thirty Six Engravings By Jackson. 4 1/4" By 6 3/4" Tall.
