About This Item
Kansas City, Missouri: Ramsey, Millett and Hudson, 1874. Light to moderate corner and edge wear. Gilt cover ruling and spine lettering. Previous owner's name in ink and pencil on a front preliminary page. Several pages have been repaired and secured with linen library tape including frontispiece and title-page. Numerous full-page and text illustrations. Three text pages ( pp. 89,90, 427) and eight pages of advertisements at the end are supplied in facsimile and are laid-in in their appropriate spots. In spite of the listed faults, this is a very acceptable copy of an exceedingly rare book on the cattle trade. According to Adams, this is one of the "big four" cattle books, written by a man who was instrumental in opening the market for Texas cattle. 427 pp. + adverts. See Howes M-72, Dary 166, Adams Herd 1385, Graff 2594, Streeter 2366, Reese 76, and Rader 2286. . First Edition, First Printing. Green Cloth. Rebound/No Jacket. Thick Octavo.
